The 23rd Reno Tournament of Champions brought one of the biggest tournaments in recent history. In addition to adding a youth tournament, the high school tournament saw 520 more matches on the first day this year than it did last year. Further, the college tournament 120 more matches than last year.
Buchanan High School entered this year as one of the top-ranked high schools in the nation. While a number of teams believed they would win the tournament, Coach Wayne Branstetter's Poway team had different ideas. In his last year as a head coach, Branstetter helped lead his team to the team title. This came after he was honored before the finals for his more than 40 years in the coaching industry.
In the college side, NC State came in as the team to beat and they did not disappoint. Pop's Wolf Pack blistered the field scoring 192 team points, while Wyoming was runner-up with 140 team points. Missouri rounded out the top three with 106 team points.
Bryce Meredith beat two top 5 opponents en route to being named Outstanding Wrestler. Brock Hardy of Box Elder High School blistered the field en route to his Outstanding Wrestler award, too.

This year's tournament was one of the best tournaments in recent history. We can't thank all of our partners enough. FloWrestling, Silver Legacy, Circus Circus and Eldorado have been partners of the Reno Tournament of Champions for a number of years. Without the help of our partners, staff, coaches and athletes, our tournament could not be as successful without them.
